Privacy Policy

SpudDB (“we”, “us”) provides software for agricultural produce analysis. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect through the SpudDB mobile app and related services (the “Service”) and how we use, share, and protect it.

Information we collect

• Account information — name, email address, and the password you set when you create an account.
• Photos and videos — images you capture or upload through the app for crop analysis, including any metadata embedded in those files (such as EXIF GPS coordinates).
• Location data — when you grant location permission, we record the GPS coordinates where a photo is taken so analyses can be linked to specific fields.
• Organization data — the farms, fields, crop zones, seed loads, and analysis results you create or your organization shares with you.
• Device and usage data — basic technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, and crash reports, used to operate and improve the Service.

How we use information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service’s features (capture, analysis, mapping, reporting).
• To authenticate you and protect your account.
• To communicate with you about your account, including password resets and security notices.
• To diagnose problems and prevent abuse.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

• With other members of your organization in SpudDB, who can view organization-owned data such as photos, fields, and analyses.
• With service providers who host our infrastructure or process email on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.
• When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SpudDB, our users, or the public.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the SpudDB app: Settings → Delete Account. When you delete your account, your User record is deleted and your personal identifiers are removed from photos and analyses you contributed; organization-owned content (photos, fields, analyses) is retained for the benefit of your organization unless the organization separately requests its deletion.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise these rights by emailing privacy@spuddb.com. We will respond within a reasonable time consistent with applicable law.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect the information we hold, including TLS for data in transit and access controls for stored data. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will provide notice in the app or by email. The “Effective date” above will reflect the most recent revision.
